Egypt police officer reshuffle 2026

Overview

On 2 August 2026 Egypt’s Ministry of Interior released two parallel transfer plans for regional police directorates. In the Beheira Governorate, Major General Ahmed Al‑Sukran oversaw appointments that placed Major General Mahmoud Jamal as assistant to the governor, Major Ahmed Abu Younis as head of drug‑control, and numerous colonels and majors to lead stations and specialized units across the governorate. The Dakahlia Police Directorate, led by Major General Khalid Al‑Mohamadi, announced a similar set of moves, naming Lieutenant Colonel Mohamed Aissa to head drug‑control investigations, Colonel Amr Al‑Sharbini as chief of the Central Police Center, and promoting several officers to lead criminal‑investigation and public‑morals units. Both announcements frame the reshuffle as part of the ministry’s annual effort to refresh leadership, leverage diverse security expertise, and improve police performance for citizens in their respective regions.
