El Alamein International Airshow in Egypt

The second edition of the El Alamein International Airshow opened on September 8 at El Alamein International Airport in Egypt. Inaugurated by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and the President of Cyprus, the three-day event focuses on cooperation in military aviation, civil aerospace, space technology, and defense manufacturing.

The exhibition includes between 250 and 260 companies from approximately 50 to 80 nations, with displays featuring more than 50 civilian and military aircraft. Notable participants include the United States, represented by the U.S. Air Force and the Texas Air National Guard, and Russia, via the Rostec company. Local defense equipment and unmanned systems are also being presented by the Arab Organization for Industrialization.

As part of the event, the Indian Air Force’s Sarang Helicopter Display Team performed aerial maneuvers using the indigenously manufactured Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Dhruv. The team, noted as the world’s only five-helicopter display team, performed in a four-helicopter formation. Air Marshal Yalla Umesh, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Maintenance Command, visited the contingent to interact with the air warriors during the event, which concluded on September 10. The Indian Ministry of Defence noted that the team’s presence reflects “strengthening defence and diplomatic ties between India and Egypt.”
