Election of Hitler Mussolini Simeón Flores in Peru

Overview

Hitler Mussolini Simeón Flores, a 45-year-old businessman from the transport sector, has been elected mayor of Queropalca, a remote district in the Huánuco region of the Peruvian Andes. Running under the center-left Ahora Nación party, Flores secured 229 votes, representing approximately 34% to 34.5% of the total valid votes cast in the October 4 election. He narrowly defeated his closest rival, Gaspar Benilde Osorio Zambrano of the Renovación Popular Perú party, by 25 votes.

While his namesakes are the 20th-century dictators Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini, reports indicate that his name does not reflect his political ideology. Flores, who previously belonged to the right-wing Fuerza Popular, intends to focus his administration on public health, poverty reduction, and social justice. He is scheduled to take office on January 1, 2027.

This event has drawn international attention, though it is noted as not being an isolated occurrence in Peru. Other politicians with similar names have previously held office, such as Hitler Guesclin Alba Sánchez, who served as mayor of Yúngar, and Hitler Saavedra Casternoque, who served in the Peruvian Congress.
