Electric scooter accidents in Bulgaria

Overview

Electric scooter accidents have been reported in different Bulgarian regions, resulting in various injuries and fatalities.

In Veliko Tarnovo Province, three incidents since the beginning of the year caused one death and 13 injuries. These included a fatal collision in Gorna Oryahovitsa and a serious brain injury to a child in Liaskovets. In response, police conducted road safety operations using drones and issued hundreds of fines, noting that the minimum legal age for scooter use is 16.

In the Burgas region, recent accidents involved a skull fracture and brain hemorrhage following an improper overtaking maneuver in Nesebar, a crash due to speeding in Sunny Beach, and a concussion in Ravda involving a rider under the influence of alcohol.
