Electric vehicle seasonal software updates
Overview
Rivian introduced a Ghostbusters-themed Halloween software update for its R1T, R1S, and R2 electric vehicle models. Available from October 9 through November 2, the update features a themed dashboard, custom lighting sequences, and audio effects such as proton beams. It includes a “Trick or Treat Mode” for greeting guests and interactive minigames. A promotional commercial for the update features Bill Murray.
Tesla also released a seasonal update, designated as the 2026.38.3 software update, which includes a ‘Halloween Mode’. This feature transforms the digital interface into a ‘haunted house on wheels’ and modifies the appearance of pedestrians on the display to look like skeletons. Like Rivian, Tesla’s update includes a ‘Trick or Treat’ function that uses lights and sounds to react to visitors when the vehicle is parked.
