Overview

Mexican ballerina Elisa Carrillo, a First Ballerina at the Staatsballett Berlin, was scheduled to lead a series of free cultural events in Puebla in August 2026. The planned activities included a free ballet masterclass in the Zócalo and the “Elisa y sus Amigos” Star Gala at the Auditorio Metropolitano.

Due to high demand and rapid ticket exhaustion, the municipal government, led by Mayor Pepe Chedraui, arranged for a screen to be installed in the Zócalo to accommodate more citizens.

The gala was successfully held, attracting over 5,000 attendees. The international spectacle featured 14 choreographies performed by Carrillo and elite dancers from Japan, Russia, the United States, and Spain, accompanied by a live symphony orchestra. The event was part of Puebla’s designation as the American Capital of Culture 2026.
