Overview

The history of the relationship between singer Svetlana ‘Ceca’ Ražnatović and Željko Ražnatović, known as Arkan, is a notable chapter in regional public history. The pair met in Belgrade in 1993 and married in a widely publicized ceremony on February 19, 1995. During their marriage, they had two children, Anastasija and Veljko.

The union ended following the murder of Željko Ražnatović on January 15, 2000, at the Intercontinental Hotel in Belgrade.

Following the assassination, singer Zoran Kalezić recalled the atmosphere at the Ražnatović residence. Kalezić noted the grief of Arkan’s mother, Slavka, and described the reaction of Arkan’s first wife, Natalija. Kalezić stated that Natalija showed grace during the mourning period, remarking, ‘don’t tell me anything about it, it is all simple for me, he loved this woman,’ in reference to Ceca.
