Overview
Emirates has introduced several updates and promotions regarding its Skywards loyalty program.
In August 2026, the airline announced a policy change for Skywards Miles expiration set to take effect on June 1, 2027. The new system will move away from tying expiration to a member’s birth month, instead making newly earned miles valid for three years from the date of activity. While this standardization may cause some miles to expire up to one year earlier than under the previous system, the airline stated that miles earned before the June 2027 deadline will follow existing guidelines.
Additionally, a promotional period was announced for mid-September 2026, offering members double Miles on flights operated by Emirates and flydubai. The promotion requires registration and applies to various fare classes across multiple cabins. Alongside these rewards, the airline clarified that while direct First Class bookings with miles may be restricted by status requirements, passengers can still utilize miles to upgrade one cabin for both cash and mileage-based bookings, subject to availability.
