Overview

Energy infrastructure and distribution capabilities are expanding in Cameroon and Mauritius. In Cameroon, the Société camerounaise des dépôts pétroliers (Scdp) increased its liquefied petroleum gas storage capacity at the Bonabéri depot by 40%, raising it to 3,500 metric tons. Scdp also implemented a new 4 km pipeline between the Port of Douala and the Bessengue depot to increase liquid product reception and reduce vessel turnaround times.

In the private sector, Dash Energies, a network from Bony Dashaco, has officially entered the Cameroonian petroleum downstream market. The group inaugurated its first service station in the Akwa district of Douala at the ‘2 Églises’ site, a rehabilitated former MRS station. This facility features a total storage capacity of 45,000 liters, comprising 30,000 liters of Super gasoline, 15,000 liters of diesel, and 5,000 liters of kerosene to meet local demand for household lighting.

While a second station is under construction in Limbe, Dash Energies has announced an ambitious expansion strategy to open five stations by the end of 2026, with a long-term goal of reaching 100 stations by September 2028. These stations are intended to serve as a foundation for a broader vision of increasing renewable energy production and efficiency across Africa, specifically targeting sectors such as agriculture, communications, health, and education.

In Mauritius, the Central Electricity Board (CEB) has relaunched a tender to construct two 4,000 m³ heavy fuel oil storage tanks at the Saint-Louis power plant to increase total storage capacity by 8,000 m³.
