Enterprise AI agents adoption

An early July notice highlighted the promise of AI assistants to raise productivity across workplaces and industries. By late July, a SAP‑conducted Engagement Index study provided concrete evidence: 72 % of senior decision‑makers said AI agents had already boosted productivity, and about one‑third considered them fully embedded in business processes, shifting customer interaction from reactive to proactive. Companies are deploying these agents for tasks such as scheduling, ticket creation, ERP data updates and email dispatch. At the same time, security experts warned of risks from uncontrolled access. Guidance from Microsoft’s Copilot Studio and the NIST AI Risk Management Framework now recommends safeguards—default‑deny permissions, audit logging, clear rule sets and an emergency‑stop function—to prevent data loss or unauthorized actions. SAP’s chief marketing officer emphasized that successful rollout depends on connected data, transparent rules and sustained trust between teams and the AI system.
