Entre Ríos bicentennial historical commemorations

Overview

The municipalities of Paraná and Concepción del Uruguay, in partnership with the Universidad Autónoma de Entre Ríos (UADER), have initiated a project to produce a collective book commemorating the bicentennial of their elevation to city status in 1826. This research focuses on the political, social, and institutional history of Entre Ríos during the 19th century.

As part of these bicentennial commemorations, officials presented a book titled ‘21N: el día en que una ciudad entrerriana salvó a la organización nacional’. Published by the Universidad de Concepción del Uruguay (UCU), the work details a historical event from November 21, 1852, in which residents of Concepción del Uruguay defeated an armed expedition from Buenos Aires. Vice Governor Alicia Aluani noted the significant role played by civilians, students, and women in this resistance to defend regional interests.
