Entrepreneurship education initiatives in Japan

Overview

Japan is implementing various educational programs to foster entrepreneurship among students and educators. In Osaka, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) scheduled the “MEXT Autumn Entrepreneurship Festival! 2026 in Kansai” for November 6 and 7. The event, managed by the KADOKAWA ASCII Research Institute, aims to support entrepreneurship education by focusing on the theme of “turning failure into learning.”

Other regional initiatives include a lecture at Kurume National College of Technology by KiQ Robotics CEO Takashi Takimoto, who shared insights on transitioning from technical studies to startup leadership. Additionally, the NExTeens program in Sendai is set to host a student entrepreneurship bootcamp and a teacher workshop to help students in the Tohoku region transform local challenges into business ideas.
