The Regional Autonomous Corporation of Valle del Cauca (CVC) has established 2,580.70 hectares of new protected areas to safeguard water, biodiversity, and biocultural heritage. This action aligns with the ‘Patria Milagro’ government’s ‘Agenda ABC’ (Water, Biodiversity, and Communities).
The initiative includes the Soil Conservation District of the Cauca River Associated Wetlands Complex, which covers 1,882.29 hectares across Bugalagrande, Andalucía, and Tuluá to protect 20 wetlands. Additionally, the Integrated Regional Management District (DRMI) CCCORYSAN–Venado has been designated in Buenaventura. Spanning 698.41 hectares, this second area encompasses dense forests and diverse wildlife while supporting ecotourism and traditional community ecosystem management.
