Environmental initiatives in Chile and Bolivia
Overview
In early October 2026, environmental initiatives were conducted in Chile and Bolivia to observe national environmental holidays.
In Chile, reforestation and educational programs were held to mark National Environmental Day. In Punta Arenas, the Agrupación Ecológica de la Patagonia, the local municipality, and Aguas Magallanes collaborated to plant 40 lenga trees near Avenida Frei, involving students from Escuela Villa Las Nieves. In Mejillones, the Asociación de Industriales Químicos de Chile organized an educational program titled ‘Cambio Climático: El Poder de EcoActuar’ to teach students about global warming and sustainable practices.
In Bolivia, the municipal government of Santa Cruz de la Sierra organized an arborization day at Unidad Educativa 23 de Marzo A to celebrate National Tree Day. Students, teachers, and officials planted native species to promote conservation and address deforestation and forest fires.
