ERT leadership transition in Greece

Overview

Konstantinos Papavasileiou resigned as CEO of the Greek public broadcaster ERT before his five-year term was set to conclude in 2027. Although the official reason cited was personal, reports indicated the resignation stemmed from internal tensions with ERT leadership and a professional offer from Wide Media Group.

Following the vacancy, government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis proposed Aris Panagiotidis, the current General Director of ERT3, to serve as temporary CEO. The proposal is to be submitted to the ERT General Assembly. A permanent replacement will eventually be selected through the ASEP process to ensure meritocracy.
