České Budějovice Airport infrastructure works

Overview

Infrastructure improvements are underway at České Budějovice Airport in the South Bohemian Region. A 160 million CZK project to extend the connection between the airport and the I/3 highway began in February 2026, with completion expected in November 2026.

As part of the construction, traffic on the main stretch of the I/3 highway between České Budějovice and Český Krumlov is subject to restrictions from late July through mid-September 2026. During this period, traffic is limited to a single lane with alternating flow managed by on-site workers during peak hours and traffic lights during other times. The project includes the installation of new turning lanes, a signal-controlled intersection, roundabouts, upgraded utilities, lighting, sidewalks, and a cycle path.
