European corporate share buyback programs

Overview

Following the initial wave of share-repurchase filings in mid-July 2026, corporate capital-return activities among European firms intensified through late July and into mid-August.

By the end of July, Deutsche Telekom AG had reached a cumulative total of 6,363,064 shares repurchased since July 1. Other German companies also reported significant activity: IVU Traffic Technologies AG increased its cumulative total to 94,887 shares, while Fabasoft AG reported 66,296 shares repurchased since April 2026. Adidas AG continued its second tranche of a buyback programme, reaching 2,009,049 shares by July 31. Additionally, Alzchem Group AG disclosed a purchase at €161.40 per share on July 31, while Viromed Medical AG reported an insider sale of 38,000 shares by director Heike Perbandt on July 29.

In August 2026, these programs continued. Adidas AG reported its second tranche reached 2,948,323 shares as of August 12. Symrise AG acquired 145,500 shares between August 10 and August 14, and Deutsche Telekom AG reported an additional acquisition of 1,601,600 shares during that same period via the Xetra electronic trading system.

Beiersdorf Aktiengesellschaft has since expanded its 2026/2027 Share Buyback Program. The company increased the volume of its first tranche from EUR 100 million to up to EUR 200 million and extended the deadline to December 24, 2026.

Other notable insider transactions in August included sales by Dilxwax Acar of FIT GROUP AG, who sold a total of 33,848 shares between August 14 and August 18, and a purchase by Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG board member Jürgen Paul Otto, who acquired shares worth 80,710.83 EUR on August 20.
