European diplomatic security and integration talks

Overview

European foreign ministers have engaged in high-level diplomatic meetings to address regional security, economic cooperation, and European Union integration.

In late September, Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár met with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul to discuss bilateral trade, NATO cooperation, and the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East. Blanár also participated in a Slavkov Format mission to Montenegro to support its EU accession process and discuss regional stability and hybrid threats.

Following these developments, German Foreign Minister Wadephul met with Slovenian Foreign Minister Tone Kajzer in Ljubljana. The discussions focused on strengthening partnerships in defense, digitalization, and space technologies. Both ministers reaffirmed support for Ukraine and emphasized the necessity of NATO cooperation. However, the meeting also highlighted internal EU tensions regarding a Slovenian blockade of a joint statement on Israeli settlement expansion in the West Bank.
