European football and handball season starts

New sports seasons have commenced across various regional and national leagues in Germany, Austria, and Denmark, spanning football and handball.

In handball, recent results include a 34:22 victory for HSG Bensheim/Auerbach FLAMES against Sportunion Neckarsulm and a 33:31 win for SG Flensburg-Handewitt over ThSV Eisenach. During the latter, SG Flensburg-Handewitt introduced a new data analysis role for Sportdirektor Ljubomir Vranjes. In the women’s Bundesliga, Füchse Berlin defeated Luchsen Rosengarten 36:31, while SV Union Halle-Neustadt lost 30:32 to TuS Metzingen. VfL Oldenburg and BSV Sachsen Zwickau played to a 30:30 draw, featuring six goals from Liv Navne.

In Germany, regional handball activities have expanded to the Verbandsliga season. In Vreden, TV Vreden is set to begin its season with a home game against SV Teutonia Riemke. Coach Frank Steinkamp noted team continuity following a summer break, though player Janne Niehuis faces potential knee surgery.

Football competitions also show early results and upcoming fixtures. In Germany, KSV Hessen Kassel and SSVg Velbert 02 secured significant wins, while SV Blau-Weiß Niederburg defeated FSG Osterspai 4:1 and SG Belle-Cappel-Leopoldstal beat SV Bonenburg 4:0. Regional cup matches (Kreispokal) are also scheduled in Marl, featuring matchups such as FC Marl against FC 96 Recklinghausen. In Austria, the LASK men’s team maintains a perfect record in the ADMIRAL Bundesliga, while the SCR Altach women’s team drew 2:2 against LASK. Regional matches in the LT1 OÖ Liga and A-Klassen also reported results, including a draw between Micheldorf and Garsten.
