Eurorando hiking festival in Erzgebirge

Prior to the Eurorando hiking festival, the Verkehrsverbund Mittelsachsen (VMS) announced special transport tickets to facilitate travel within the German-Czech Erzgebirge region. These tickets, available for 25 euros individually or 50 euros for groups of up to five, provide three consecutive days of public transportation across the Chemnitz, Erzgebirgskreis, Mittelsachsen, and Zwickau districts.

Upon the festival's commencement, it was noted that the event is being held for the first time as a cross-border festival spanning the Saxon Erzgebirge and the Czech Krušnohoří. The festival is expected to host approximately 7,000 overnight guests from 15 European countries. The program includes roughly 50 hiking routes and guided tours, with an emphasis on the shared mining history of the UNESCO World Heritage Montanregion Erzgebirge/Krušnohoří. Activities range from concerts and exhibitions to visits to historical mining sites, with official proceedings centered in Boží Dar, Czech Republic, and Oberwiesenthal, Germany.
