Everton and Chelsea Premier League matchup

Everton and Chelsea are scheduled to compete in a Premier League seventh-round fixture at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday, October 17, 2026. Both teams enter the match tied on ten points, with Everton in fifth place and Chelsea in sixth, making the game a direct battle for a position in the top four.

Everton, managed by David Moyes, remains one of only three unbeaten teams in the division. The club has maintained a strong defensive record, having conceded only five goals this season. Regarding personnel, left-back Vitalii Mykolenko is considered a doubt following an injury sustained during international duty; while Moyes noted he is “doing much better,” his availability is currently rated at approximately 50-50. Jarrad Branthwaite has been utilized at left-back in his absence, though he also dealt with a minor leg issue during the previous match against Hull City. Additionally, midfielder Christian Norgaard is nearing a return from a groin injury that has sidelined him for the first seven games, with Moyes indicating he may be available to make his debut as a substitute.

Chelsea, led by Xabi Alonso, enters the match following a 5-1 victory over Bournemouth. While the squad features significant attacking talent, they have struggled defensively, having conceded 13 goals this season and failing to keep a clean sheet in 22 consecutive league matches. Chelsea will be without Reece James, Emmanuel Emegha, and Jamie Gittens. The match will also mark the debut of Chelsea’s new 2026/27 third kit, which features a retro design inspired by the early 1990s.
