Expansion of electric vehicle V2X technology
Overview
The electric vehicle sector is seeing increased integration of Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) technology, which enables bidirectional energy transfer between vehicles and external sources.
Hyundai Motor Group has launched ‘AllDayEnergy’, a brand designed to turn electric vehicles into mobile energy storage units. This suite includes smart charging (V1G), vehicle-to-home (V2H) capabilities for powering appliances during outages, and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) services. The company intends to roll these services out globally, including via the Kia application.
Complementary developments in the market include Sigenergy’s SigenStor bidirectional DC charger, which allows solar-generated electricity to flow directly to an EV battery to minimize conversion losses. Additionally, WETOX has introduced the D2 power adapter, a V2X-certified device designed to provide vehicle-to-load (V2L) capabilities to electric vehicle models that do not possess native bidirectional power functionality.
