Overview

Higher education opportunities in Brazil are expanding through new undergraduate vacancies and specialized professional programs.

Several state and federal institutions have announced significant openings for the 2027 academic year. The Ministry of Education (MEC) is implementing the ‘Universidades Transformadoras’ program, which will introduce 11,354 new undergraduate vacancies across 65 federal universities, focusing on fields such as health, technology, artificial intelligence, and special education. Individual institutions, including the Universidade Estadual de Goiás (UEG) and various federal universities in Santa Catarina and Rio Grande, have also launched specific application processes for thousands of spots.

In addition to undergraduate expansion, there is growth in specialized biology education. This includes high-rated distance learning programs for teaching and bachelor’s degrees, as well as the PROFBIO 2027 program. Coordinated by the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), the latter offers 572 free vacancies for a Professional Master’s in Biology Teaching aimed at public school teachers.
