Expansion of Matter over Thread smart home devices

Overview

Smart home manufacturers are expanding their product offerings through the adoption of Matter over Thread protocols.

Onvis released an IP65 weather-resistant outdoor smart plug designed for landscape lighting or holiday decorations. The device supports real-time energy monitoring and is compatible with ecosystems including Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Samsung SmartThings. It can handle up to 1800 watts.

Following this, Heiman and Meross introduced new devices utilizing the same connectivity standards. Heiman launched the HS2SK-M-EU smart plug, which supports Matter 1.4 and provides power consumption measurement for up to 3,000 watts. Meross introduced the MTS155 smart radiator thermostat, featuring window-open detection, temperature calibration, frost protection, and a child lock. Both new products are designed to integrate with existing Thread Border Routers and major smart home platforms.
