Expansion of recreational swimming facilities in Croatia
Overview
Croatia has expanded its recreational infrastructure through the opening of new swimming facilities focused on sustainable and energy-efficient designs.
In July 2026, the town of Čazma opened its first public biological swimming pool as part of the ‘Čazma Natura’ green-tourism project. The 1,665 m² facility utilizes aquatic plants and microorganisms for natural filtration instead of chlorine.
By August 2026, further developments were reported in Pregrada and Vinkovci. Pregrada opened a biological swimming pool project valued at over 4.3 million euros, funded largely through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. Simultaneously, Vinkovci completed a larger complex in Lenije Park worth over 7 million euros, which combined the energy renovation of an existing indoor pool with the construction of new outdoor pools and sports amenities.
