Expansion of veterinary services in Natal

Overview

The Natal City Hall has initiated plans to expand municipal veterinary services by seeking a non-profit organization to implement and operate a new Public Veterinary Hospital in the city’s North Zone. Managed by the Municipal Secretariat of Environment and Urbanism (Semurb), the project aims to provide consultations, surgeries, and emergency care for dogs and cats, with priority for low-income residents and animal protectors. The estimated investment for a 12-month partnership is approximately R$ 5 million.

In a separate development regarding existing services, the Municipal Veterinary Hospital of Natal has launched free online consultations via the Televet Brasil platform. This telemedicine service, developed by the Sociedade Paulista de Medicina Veterinária (SPMV), allows pet owners to conduct follow-up appointments and receive guidance through video calls or chat, reducing the need for physical travel to the Ribeira neighborhood facility.
