FAI cultural and environmental initiatives in Italy

Overview

The Fondo per l’Ambiente Italiano (FAI) has implemented several initiatives focused on cultural accessibility and environmental awareness. The ‘A porte aperte’ project was launched in partnership with third sector organizations to promote access to cultural heritage through educational and artistic activities. This follows significant state investments aimed at removing physical and cognitive barriers across numerous Italian cultural sites.

Building on these efforts, FAI announced the #FAIperilclima campaign for November 2026. This series of events aims to raise awareness regarding the impacts of climate change on historical, artistic, and landscape heritage. Scheduled activities include scientific discussions on global warming in Liguria and expert talks in Milan concerning the design of green spaces capable of adapting to climatic transformations.
