Fake ICE impersonation in Oregon

Overview

In July 2026, three masked individuals posing as U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents stopped a female immigrant driver on Highway 211 near Woodburn, Oregon. Wearing tactical vests marked “POLICE” and arriving in an unmarked SUV with flashing lights, they forced the driver from her vehicle, searched her, and held her in the back of the SUV for about 20 minutes while assaulting her. She was eventually released and taken to a hospital for injuries.

The FBI and Oregon State Police launched a joint investigation and confirmed the men were not ICE agents. The incident was linked to an FBI warning issued in October 2025 about criminals impersonating ICE officers to commit robberies, kidnappings and assaults.

Authorities continue to investigate the perpetrators and warn the public about the danger of fake‑ICE scams.
