Fallow deer incidents in Czech Republic and Canada

Overview

In Rokycany, Czech Republic, a fallow deer caused disruption after entering a fenced area on Nad Kalvárií street. When municipal police officers approached to document the animal, it charged at them, forcing the officers to jump aside to avoid impact. Following this, the deer was reported wandering through several streets, including Na Pátku and Soukenická. Police used a motorized patrol with sirens and flashing lights to guide the animal toward the Klabava River, where it eventually escaped back into the forest. Petr Wohlmuth, the commander of the Rokycany municipal police, suggested the animal’s agitation may have been due to the rutting season.

In a separate incident in North Saanich, Canada, an RCMP officer and a resident worked together to rescue a buck stuck in a backyard swimming pool. The pair used a large strap to guide the deer out of the water, after which the animal ran into the woods without apparent injury.
