Fatal accident at Monte Erice hillclimb

Overview

A fatal accident occurred during the 68th edition of the Monte Erice chronoscalata, resulting in the deaths of two young individuals, Giuseppe Bisconti, 18, and Karol Greco, 20, after they were struck by a vehicle.

In response to the tragedy, the municipality of Valderice canceled and indefinitely postponed various scheduled public events, including a motorcycle rally and local festivities, as a sign of solidarity with the families.

Following autopsies, funeral services were held in Belmonte Mezzagno at the Church Madre. The service was presided over by the Archbishop of Palermo, Corrado Lorefice, who described the deaths as an “immense tragedy” and noted that the loss was a shared pain for the community. The funerals were attended by local officials and a large crowd of mourners.
