Fatal accidents in the Canary Islands
Overview
Reports from the Canary Islands indicate several fatal incidents involving maritime rescues and traffic accidents.
In late September, two separate deaths occurred in the islands. In Fuerteventura, a 38-year-old man died following resuscitation efforts after being pulled from the sea at Garcey beach. Simultaneously, in Lanzarote, a man died after being ejected from a vehicle during a rollover on the LZ-2 highway.
In early October, another maritime fatality was reported in Fuerteventura. A man, approximately 54 years old, died after being pulled from the water near Esquinzo beach. Despite the deployment of an ambulance and a medicalized helicopter by the Canary Islands Emergency and Security Coordination Center (CECOES 112), the individual could not be revived.
