Fatal shooting of Brazilian national in Paraguay

Overview

In Presidente Franco, Paraguay, a 30-year-old Brazilian national, Matheus Silva Souza Teles, was found dead in an abandoned Jetour vehicle with a gunshot wound to the head.

Following a dispute in Ciudad del Este, the victim’s wife alleged that Lucas Gomes Couto shot Teles and fled on foot, while the suspect’s partner drove away with the wounded victim still inside the car. Authorities later discovered the vehicle on a dirt road near the Monday River. Lucas Gomes Couto was arrested near a shopping center in Ciudad del Este and placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry.
