Fatal shootings of businesspeople in Uganda
Overview
A series of fatal shootings targeting businesspeople has been reported in Uganda.
On October 10, 2026, businessman Ssekandi Edirisa was killed in Wakiso District when unidentified gunmen opened fire on his vehicle as he arrived at his home with his wife and son. Police launched an investigation into the circumstances of the murder.
On October 17, 2026, a similar attack occurred in Kisoro Municipality, where businessman Africano Nteziyaremye and his wife, Peace Kyompeire, were shot dead by assailants on a motorcycle. Following this incident, the Uganda People’s Defence Forces and police were deployed to the region. Local officials noted that these attacks follow a pattern of violence targeting the business community in the Kisoro District.
