Femicide investigations in Mexico

Authorities in Mexico are investigating separate incidents of suspected femicide in the states of Mexico and Oaxaca.

In Otzolotepec, State of Mexico, a 26-year-old paramedic named Aurora Montiel Regino was found dead in San Mateo Mozoquilpan. Responders discovered the victim with visible injuries and puncture wounds to her neck. The General Prosecutor's Office of the State of Mexico (FGJEM) has initiated investigations to determine the cause of death.

In Zaachila, Oaxaca, the Prosecutor's Office is investigating the death of an unidentified woman, approximately 25 years old, whose body was discovered in an 80-meter deep ravine. Preliminary findings suggest the victim may have been attacked with a sharp weapon. Investigators are working to identify the woman and determine if the crime scene was moved to the ravine.
