Fenerbahçe board reshuffle and stadium upgrade

On 23 July 2026 Fenerbahçe Futbol AŞ held an extraordinary general meeting in Istanbul in which seven board members resigned, including Mahmut Uslu and Ali Gürbüz. The meeting also appointed a new board, naming Aziz Yıldırım as chairman and Barış Göktürk as vice‑chairman, along with thirteen other members. Mahmut Uslu remained in his role at the broader sports club.

Three days later, on 26 July 2026, renovation work on the Chobani Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium continued with plans to expand its capacity. Media reports suggested that former Turkish Football Federation president Nihat Özdemir might re‑join the Football Association board and fund the stadium project. Özdemir publicly denied any such appointment, stating he would support the club financially and morally without a formal board seat, while noting his son was already serving on the club’s management board.
