Ferrara sustainable mobility and cycling development

Overview

The city of Ferrara is advancing sustainable mobility through significant infrastructure investments and new tourism initiatives.

To improve connectivity between the city center and outlying areas, Ferrara is investing approximately 8 million euros in cycling and pedestrian networks. This project, supported by the national Prima program, includes the creation of the ‘Ferrara Green Line,’ a 2.3-kilometer path on a former railway bed designed to reduce travel times significantly.

Complementing these physical improvements, the Consorzio Visit Ferrara has launched the ‘In bici tra Valli e Delizie’ initiative. This 180-kilometer cycling itinerary connects the Renaissance city with rural landscapes, including the Po Delta Regional Park and various historical residences, to promote ‘slow and conscious exploration’ of the region.
