FIA Formula 3 Monza championship round

During the penultimate round of the 2026 FIA Formula 3 season at the Monza National Circuit, championship leader Freddie Slater secured pole position in qualifying with a time of 1:38.114. Slater’s teammate, Matteo De Palo, also qualified strongly, while championship runner-up Ugo Ugochukwu faced a setback, starting 25th following a mistake and a grid penalty.

In the Sprint Race, Taito Kato achieved his first FIA Formula 3 victory after starting ninth and navigating a race marked by collisions and multiple safety car periods. Freddie Slater recovered from a twelfth-place start to finish second, extending his championship lead to seventeen points over Ugo Ugochukwu. The race also saw a podium finish for Hiyu Yamakoshi and several incidents, including a motor failure involving Pedro Clerot.

In the subsequent Feature Race, Nicola Lacorte secured his first career victory. Driving for DAMS, the Italian took the lead on the 10th lap and maintained it through several safety car periods to win in front of a home crowd. Tuukka Taponen finished second, followed by Taito Kato in third. The race was marked by a significant collision involving Freddie Slater, who lost a wheel and was forced to abandon the race. This retirement allows Ugo Ugochukwu to close the gap in the championship standings.
