FIGC amateur football regulations and registration

The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) has issued regulatory updates and schedules regarding amateur football registrations and transfer windows.

Initial directives established specific timelines for the 2025/26 season, detailing windows for 11-a-side and 5-a-side clubs, as well as deadlines for contract terminations, player releases, and loan agreements. During this period, there were also calls for greater transparency from the FIGC regarding the national team’s leadership and head coach appointments.

Subsequent updates for the 2026/27 season clarified registration provisions for 11-a-side championships. These include rules for lapsed registrations, which allow players to re-register up to three times per season, and a registration window for non-professional players running from July 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027. Additionally, the federation has engaged in discussions regarding new match rules for amateur leagues, specifically concerning medical protocols and measures to prevent time-wasting by goalkeepers.
