Film festivals in Prague

Prague is hosting two distinct film festivals in November 2026.

The 27th Mezipatra Queer Film Festival launched at the Lucerna cinema on November 5. The program features 78 films, consisting of 28 feature films and 50 short films, with themes centered on adolescence, identity, and first loves. The festival opened with the Brazilian film “Gugův svět” and includes titles such as “Medvědí jeskyně,” “Benzin v krvi,” and “Club Kid.” The Prague portion of the event runs until November 12, before moving to Brno from November 13 to November 20. The festival hosts international guests, including director Su Hui-Yu and screenwriter Angelo Tijssens, and features competitions for a main jury, a student jury, and the audience.

The 13th edition of the 3Kino Polish Film Festival is scheduled to take place from November 9 to 15. This event will showcase 13 contemporary Polish feature films, alongside theater, stand-up comedy, exhibitions, and music. The festival opens with the premiere of “The Doll” (Lalka), directed by Maciej Kawalski. Based on the novel by Bolesław Prus, the film is noted as one of the most expensive Polish productions ever made. This year’s central theme is freedom, explored through historical events and personal relationships. The program includes a focus on Poland’s Lower Silesia region, an exhibition by photographer Rafał Pawłowski titled “Shadows of Sounds,” and a display of film posters to mark the 100th anniversary of filmmaker Andrzej Wajda’s birth.
