Financial sector quantum technology pilots

Overview

Financial institutions are initiating pilot programs to integrate quantum technologies for both data analysis and cybersecurity.

In August 2026, the Responsible Fintech Institute and Safeheron launched a cross-regional pilot to test post-quantum cryptography (PQC) for digital asset transactions. Utilizing a multi-party computation protocol and the NIST FIPS 204 ML-DSA-65 standard, the program tests quantum-resilient infrastructure on the NEAR Protocol. Participating entities include Bison Bank, DK Bank, and several regulatory observers from Abu Dhabi, Bhutan, and Malta.

By September 2026, the scope of quantum exploration expanded to include advanced data analytics. LSEG partnered with Microsoft to evaluate quantum data analysis methods, such as Quantum Tensor PCA, for mortgage prepayment analysis. Concurrently, LGT Financial Services established a Quantum Safe Competence Center to manage post-quantum migration and coordinate the upgrading of cryptographic infrastructure to protect sensitive information.
