Fire incidents in Panama

Overview

A series of significant fire incidents has been reported in Panama. In late September, a devastating fire occurred in the Calidonia district of Panama City, specifically impacting the “La Casita Azul” building. The blaze affected approximately 38 rooms and an estimated 114 residents, with up to 91 families potentially impacted. In response, the National Civil Protection System (SINAPROC) coordinated field operations, while the Ministry of Housing and Territorial Planning (Miviot) initiated a temporary relocation plan using local hotels to minimize disruptions to employment and education.

In early October, another major fire broke out in the Colón Free Zone of Panama. The blaze affected several warehouses in the France Field sector. Emergency responders encountered difficulties reaching the site due to heavy traffic congestion following a recent earthquake. Although explosions were heard within the facilities, there were no immediate reports of missing persons, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
