Fire incidents in Pará, Brazil

In late June 2026 a large fire completely destroyed a churrascaria in the town of Novo Repartimento, Pará. The blaze was contained with the help of a municipal water‑truck, no one was injured, and investigators opened a probe into the unknown cause.

A month later, on the night of 25 July, Pará experienced two separate fires. In Curuçá, the Barraca do Carimbó – the main venue for the local Folklore Festival – was set ablaze in what authorities classified as arson, prompting a criminal investigation and promises to safeguard cultural sites. Meanwhile, a bakery in the Nova Marabá district of Marabá caught fire; firefighters rescued the manager, Alexandre Socorro Silva, who suffered smoke‑inhalation difficulties. Both incidents underscored heightened alertness among Pará’s emergency services as they responded to a spate of destructive fires across the state.
