Florida child neglect incidents

Overview

Two separate incidents of alleged child neglect involving unsupervised minors have been reported in Florida.

In the first case, Nathalie Belizaire, 29, was charged with four counts of child neglect after allegedly leaving four children, ranging in age from two months to nine years, alone in a North Miami Beach home during a four-day cruise to the Bahamas. Authorities discovered the children hiding in a bathroom after a parent noticed social media posts regarding the trip. Belizaire’s attorney has denied the allegations.

In a subsequent incident, Irene Miller, 50, was arrested in Kissimmee after allegedly leaving four children, aged 9 to 14, unsupervised for five days while she traveled to Las Vegas for work. The situation was reported via a 911 call after a 9-year-old child was struck in the head by a falling dumbbell. Miller was apprehended by police while returning to Florida.
