Food waste educational initiatives in Croatia and Moldova
Overview
Various organizations in Croatia and Moldova have launched initiatives to combat food waste through public education and awareness campaigns.
In Croatia, the company Dukat introduced an online quiz titled ‘Are you feeding climate change?’ as part of its ‘Food is Not Thrown Away’ project. This initiative follows a 2025 survey indicating that nearly two-thirds of Croatian citizens regularly throw away food. Elena Wolsperger Dolezil, Director of Corporate Communications and Sustainability at Dukat, noted that addressing the issue requires “the involvement of the entire society.”
In Moldova, Food Bank Moldova, supported by Kaufland Moldova, launched its seventh annual educational workshop caravan, ‘Less waste, more good’. The campaign utilizes interactive activities and games to teach primary school students about the environmental consequences of waste and the resources required for food production. The project, which includes volunteers from the Diaconia Social Mission, aims to reach approximately 600 children.
