Foreign national deaths in Phuket
Overview
In August 2026, two separate incidents involving the deaths of foreign nationals were reported in Phuket, Thailand.
On August 17, a 44-year-old Chinese tourist named Ye died after being found unresponsive in a hotel swimming pool. Following assistance from bystanders and CPR, the individual was transported to Patong Hospital, where medical staff reported he passed away. Patong Police initiated an investigation and an autopsy was ordered to determine the cause of death.
On August 30, authorities discovered the body of a 43-year-old Russian man, Maxim Tarasov, in a bedroom at a condominium in the Kathu district. Investigators noted there were no signs of a struggle and valuables were untouched. Forensic doctors estimated the individual had been dead for approximately three days. An autopsy is being conducted to determine the circumstances of the death.
