Forensic investigations of remains in Argentina and Mexico

Overview

In Argentina, the Equipo Argentino de Antropología Forense (EAAF) recovered skeletal remains and identified a grave in San Antonio de Obligado. The site is connected to an 1887 massacre of Qom and Mocoví indigenous people by the Argentine Army. This archaeological work is part of a Truth Trial intended to reconstruct historical events and provide reparations to descendant communities.

In Mexico, the Colectivo Amor por los Desaparecidos located a complete skeleton and clothing near the border wall in Miguel Alemán, Tamaulipas. This discovery is the 39th positive result for the group this year and is one of 16 clandestine graves identified in that specific sector over the previous three months. Authorities have been notified to process the site.
