Forsthövel windpark commissioning in Germany

Overview

The Forsthövel windpark in Herbern began its rollout in July 2026 when the first of three turbines was connected to the grid on 17 July, supplying electricity to the nearby municipality of Ascheberg. This initial connection marked a tangible step toward the park’s planned contribution to regional renewable‑energy needs, with two additional turbines scheduled for later commissioning.

By the end of July, the project reached full operational status. The third turbine was commissioned on 28 July, completing the trio and delivering continuous power. Local officials noted that the overall schedule was upheld despite a minor delay, and early electricity output was described as “pleasing.” Ancillary work continued, including the renewal of sections of Forsthöveler Straße used during construction, and the grid operator Westnetz indicated it could temporarily shut down turbines if supply outstripped demand. Nearby, the Holthoff windpark also progressed, with half of its towers erected and concrete components completed.
