Because condoms are classified as medical devices in Europe, they must meet strict standards for biocompatibility and leak resistance. Due to the risks of unintended pregnancy and the transmission of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), officials recommend that users of the affected products undergo STI and pregnancy testing.
