Frecciarossa service changes in Italy

Overview

In early July 2026, a Frecciarossa high‑speed service advertised for the Cilento area was reported to have disappeared, prompting the consumer watchdog Codacons to label the situation a scam. Within a month, the operator announced a new experimental service: two Frecciarossa trains (9802 and 9811) will add scheduled stops at Civitanova station starting 31 August, running for six months and slightly extending journey times.
