Friuli Venezia Giulia cultural and tourism initiatives
Overview
The Friuli Venezia Giulia region has announced several strategic initiatives focused on culture, aviation, and gastronomy. For 2027, Pordenone is designated as the Italian Capital of Culture, with a program of over 100 local initiatives planned. Additionally, Trieste is scheduled to host Connect Aviation in February 2027, an international forum intended to expand regional accessibility and strengthen the role of Trieste Airport.
In late 2026, the region also scheduled various cultural and wine tourism events. These included the Cantine Aperte a San Martino initiative, involving approximately fifty wineries and distilleries across the provinces of Udine, Gorizia, Pordenone, and Trieste. Other activities included a guided urban trek through the Barriera Vecchia district in Trieste to explore its social history.
